Employers: Save Time and Money by Driving Your Own Workers’ Compensation Costs and Return-to-Work Outcomes

    Presented by Jessica C. Sanchez

This presentation has been pre-approved for 1 SHRM PDC and 1 HRCI credit hour.

When it comes to workers’ compensation, employers actually have a lot of control - not only over the ultimate cost of a claim but also over an injured worker’s recovery process and how well they fare within “the system”.   Taking into account the confines of NM laws and regulations, Jessica Sanchez will present you with simple, easy-to-implement strategies and solutions to help your company safely bring employees back to work after a workplace injury/illness.  By doing right by your worker, you can contain both the direct and indirect costs of a workers’ compensation claim.  Ms. Sanchez will also touch on how medical marijuana relates to workers’ compensation, review state statutory requirements and break down “Return-to-Work Best Practices” to facilitate positive post-injury outcomes.

Jessica C. Sanchez is a Return-to-Work Coordinator with the State of New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA).  She has over 17 years state government experience in various capacities of insurance administration, case management and implementing new public service programs.  Ms. Sanchez received her BA from the University of California, Davis with a double major in English and Spanish and a minor in Education.   Most recently, she has been with the WCA for over 5 years first working as a Compliance Officer and then as an Auditor before serving in her present role developing new outreach and consulting services aimed at improving workers’ compensation return-to-work outcomes in New Mexico.
