Managing Stress and Building Resiliency: Training the Mind and Body to Thrive in a Demanding World

    Presented by Raquel Garzon

This program is pending for 1 SHRM PDC and 1 HRCI credit hour.

We live in a world that is very demanding of us despite the reduction of resources to deliver on these demands. One response to the pressure we face each day is to feel stressed. Most people have heard that stress can damage our health and derail us from the performance we would like to have each day. Acquiring skills to manage stress and build resiliency allows us to take advantage of what stress has to offer and minimize the negative impacts it could have in our lives. This workshop will present the science of stress and resiliency. It will provide practical strategies for increasing the positive impacts of good stress, while decreasing the negative impacts of bad stress. You will leave with tools to increase mental and emotional resiliency as well as understand how nutrition, exercise, and sleep impact resiliency.

Dr. Raquel Garzon is President of Revitalize Project, a performance and wellness consulting company and an Assistant Professor and Nutrition and Wellness State Specialist at New Mexico State University in Cooperative Extension. As a speaker and thought leader, Dr. Garzon has delivered inspirational and valuable wellness and performance workshops to thousands of high performers in the areas of business and sports in over 25 countries.  She has presented to executive audiences from 35 of the top Fortune 100 companies as well as to 12 CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Garzon has experience in clinical and community settings as well as in start-up companies and media. She earned her Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Florida, and her Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Texas A&M University. She is a certified ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt, a Registered Dietitian, and a Certified Personal Trainer.
