    Strategic HR Alignment

    THANK YOU to our AUGUST CHAPTER PROGRAM SPONSOR – 

    Presented by Dr. Gena Jones

    This presentation will be submitted for 1 SHRM PDC and 1 HRCI credit hour.

    The presentation will provide attendees with a practical demonstration of how to build a strategic HR plan that focuses distinctly on the “employee experience” and organizational alignment. Practical and forward thinking methods and tools will be presented that will equip attendees to effectively lead and/or participate in the development of a strategic plan, which will uniquely align with their organization’s mission, vision and goals. Attendees will be able to apply what they learn directly on the job, whether they are in an HR leadership role or as an individual contributor. 


    Dr. Jones has worked in the areas of human resources, management and supervision for over 25 years in both the private and public sectors; seventeen of which have been in executive leadership positions.  Currently she is the Assistant Vice President/Chief HR Officer for New Mexico State University and prior to that she was the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and headed the HR team as the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at the University of Nevada, Reno. 

    Dr. Jones earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from New Mexico State University, a Master’s degree in Management from Webster University, and a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.  She is certified as a Senior HR Professional from both HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM.

    In addition to her many years of hands on experience and leadership in the field of HR, she has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  She has served in a number of national, state and local volunteer leadership positions in NM, Nevada and TX and has served on the national Board of Directors of the HRCI.  Most recently she served as President of the Texas Higher Education Human Resources Association.  Dr. Jones has also received a number of leadership and professional excellence awards in HR.  

    Dr. Jones is passionate about the field of human resources and organizational leadership, and truly enjoys working with employees at all levels to enhance their working experience.

    Our reservations must be provided by noon on the Monday before the meeting. If you have made a reservation and cancel after this time, you will be charged for lunch. No shows will also be billed for lunch.  Registrations are nontransferrable/nonfundable.
